Posters will help the Three Sisters cause

Handing out contest information for the upcoming Stone Crab Jam to Crystal River Primary School Principal Edie Speight is Paul Gallante of the Kings Bay Rotary Club and Rotarian Lisa VanDeBoe, who is chairing the event for the club. The jam will feature bands and seafood on Nov. 15.

Calling all elementary students - if you like to draw and want to put your creative talents to work, enter the Stone Crab Jam poster contest.

"Flyers have been given out to all our county schools," said Lisa VanDeBoe, chair of the event and a member of the Kings Bay Rotary Club who is putting on the event on Nov. 15.

Children are asked to draw and color something that advertises the Stone Crab Jam on an eight and a half by eleven-inch piece of paper. "Entries must be submitted to the front office of one's elementary school by Aug. 29," she said.

"Please be as creative as possible," VanDeBoe said.

A special committee will vote on the best drawing on Sept. 4 and the winner's artwork will be used to advertise the event.

"The winner will also receive a $50 Visa gift card from Plantation Realty," she added. Children are asked to include the name of the "Stone Crab Jam," that is sponsored by the Kings Bay Rotary Foundation, the date and time of the event.

"A portion of the proceeds will go to the Save Three Sisters Springs fund," she said. All students are asked to put their name, grade and school information on the back of their artwork. For more information on the contest, call Lisa at Plantation Realty at 795-0784.

Music will flow down Citrus Avenue with various bands throughout Citrus Avenue in Crystal River belting out country, rock, blues and more.

The Citrus County Chronicle is also sponsoring this festival. "I'm hoping to get 10,000 people here for the Stone Crab Jam," said VanDeBoe.
